Signify has refurbished the lighting system of Nexans historical site of Cortaillod in Switzerland, with highly efficient luminaires.
The Efficiency-as-a-Service (EaaS) initiative presents an enlightening case study showcased in a video featuring Signify’s Light as a Service solution. This impactful project unfolds at Nexans‘ Cortaillod operations site in Switzerland, a location steeped in history with a remarkable presence spanning 145 years. Nexans, a global force with operations in more than 40 countries and a workforce of around 28,000 employees, stands at the forefront of its industry. Nexans’ operations represent the backbone of our everyday lives; how electricity is brought to our homes, businesses and industries. With a commitment to their E3 model – focusing on the Environment, Engagement of employees, and the Economy – Nexans focuses on driving sustainability across their operations to commit to Net-Zero emissions by 2050.
In alignment with its E3 model, Nexans sought innovative solutions to accelerate the process of decarbonisation across its core processes, consumables, and utilities. At the heart of this challenge, Signify, formerly Philips Lighting, proposed an innovative approach for Nexans’ lighting systems. Light as a Service (LaaS): a model allowing Nexans to shift from a traditional capital expenditure (CAPEX) investment to an operation expenditure (OPEX), allowing it to focus its CAPEX investment on its core business endeavours.
At Cortaillod, with a legacy dating back to 1879, the lighting retrofit project served as a living testament to Nexans’ enduring commitment to innovation. The adoption of Signify’s Light as a Service enhanced energy efficiency and also provided Nexans with a hassle-free approach to managing their lighting needs, while achieving a reduction of 300 tons of CO2e emission annually.
The video showcased serves as a window into the reliable integration of advanced lighting solutions within Nexans’ operations. Beyond the immediate benefits of energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness, it shows the broader impact of sustainable choices in enhancing overall operational resilience.
As Nexans continues to champion their E3 model across the globe and Signify remains at the forefront of lighting innovation, this case study demonstrates how Light as a Service (LaaS) isn’t just illuminating spaces, it illuminates a path toward a sustainable, efficient and circular future.
