Webinar: The value of digitalisation in Product-as-a-Service models

SHARE

We are delighted to have recently hosted an event focused on the value of digitalisation for Product-as-a-Service (PaaS) models. The event explored how digitalisation can contribute to scaling efficiency and enhancing value.

The SET Alliance webinar series ‘servitisation for the energy transition’ brings different stakeholders together to discuss essential topics relevant to mainstreaming as-a-service solutions. If you missed our previous conversation on the synergies between PaaS models and the circular economy principles, you can catch up with the session recording here.

Digitalisation is transforming the way services are delivered and managed, offering new opportunities for efficiency and sustainability. Technologies like sensors, IoT (Internet of Things) and cloud computing allow companies to collect data on product performance and customer usage, holding a tremendous potential for improving the management of assets as well as customer relationships.

In that regard, digital tools can play a key role in as-a-service offerings of energy-efficiency appliances and renewable energy solutions. As a first example, they can be used to analyse energy usage patterns and design a system sized perfectly for the customer’s needs. Additionally, remotely tracking system performance and controlling operations empowers providers to offer truly proactive maintenance, identify potential issues and fix them before they become problems, and adjust energy systems based on real-time needs, therefore optimising energy use for maximum cost savings.

As experts in the sector, the panellists of our upcoming event will explore how digitalisation can actually unlock the feasibility of the servitisation model, recount their journey into implementing servitisation offerings, the challenges faced and solutions selected to overcome them. Dr. Parikshit Naik, Achint Varia and Olli Kuismanen will respectively represent the Advanced Services Group (ASG), pioneering the research on servitisation; Tamturbo, a leading company offering Compressed Air-as-a-Service; and Industrility, which created an innovative after-sales digital platform greatly enhancing the long-term management of appliances for industrial companies.

In a nutshell, the session will explore:

  • The most important synergies between Product-as-a-Service models and digital solutions, including a tour of the ASG’s staircase approach.
  • How digitalisation and servitisation together can also enable the circular economy principles.
  • The leading Compressed Air-as-a-Service (LaaS) model developed by Tamturbo, featuring the servitisation journey of the company and its circularity aspects.
  • Industrility innovative platform and the benefits it brings to industrial companies with regards to remote monitoring and management of appliances.

About the speakers

  • Dr Parikshit Naik, Commercial Director at The Advanced Services Group (ASG), has expertise in developing outcome-based business models and has delivered multi-million-pound projects on business models such as Milling-as-a-Service and Heat-as-a-Service, to name a few. Parikshit is a petrochemical engineer by education with a master’s degree in business strategy and innovation. His expertise is notably driven by his PhD on the role of digital technology to enable servitisation.
  • Achint Varia, Founder and Chief Revenue Officer at Industrility, has helped manufacturing companies for the last 15 years to become more data-driven organisations. At Industrility, Achint is passionate about driving higher profitability for machinery manufacturers by digitising aftersales and championing Servitization; ultimately delivering safer, reliable, sustainable and predictable business outcomes. Industrility delivers solutions using technologies like Digital-Twin, GenerativeAI and IIoT; at scale and at speed to enable machinery manufacturers (OEMs) to transform with digital servitisation.
  • Olli Kuismanen, Business Developer at Tamturbo, has been responsible for developing the company’s Air-as-a-Service business since its inception in 2017. Before embarking on a PhD on industrial Equipment-as-a-Service he was also responsible for Tamturbo global sales. Currently, Olli works to help customers become sustainable by helping modernise compressor rooms with no CAPEX usage – sharing the available energy savings in compressed air electricity and waste heat reuse.
